"... two days ago the press agencies distributed a photograph of a young Mexican couple kissing tenderly with their protective masks on."

At the supermarket, I saw a little boy with a mask decorated as a lion's nose and mouth, and many other people with all sort of smileys in their masks.

In addition to funny masks, there are a few songs inspired by the epidemic:

"La Gripa del Marrano" ("Swine Flu" or perhaps more accurate "Pig Flu")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMEFCRbbi0g

"La Cumbia de la Influenza" ("Influenza's Cumbia")
http://jordi.net/la_cumbia_de_la_influenza.mp3

I haven't tried it , but a Flickr search of "Influenza Mexico" surely would yield some "surrealistic" results.

Quoting Paco Ignacio Taibo: "Nobody knows what surrealism is until he gets to know our (mexican) reality".
