PLOS is a non-profit organization on a mission to drive open science forward with measurable, meaningful change in research publishing, policy, and practice.

Building on a strong legacy of pioneering innovation, PLOS continues to be a catalyst, reimagining models to meet open science principles, removing barriers and promoting inclusion in knowledge creation and sharing, and publishing research outputs that enable everyone to learn from, reuse and build upon scientific knowledge.

We believe in a better future where science is open to all, for all.

We’ve been really happy with the traffic to this blog since we launched it a couple of months ago. We’ve had nearly 19,000 visits but we would like more, so we’re pleased to now be using a tool from Feedblitz that converts our blog  into an e-newsletter for which you can sign up. Registering means that you will receive an email every time we post, containing the full text of recent posts and links to past ones.

Take a look at the top right hand corner of this blog and you can join the 4 of us who are subscribing at the time of this post! Note the count in the widget only seems to update periodically.

This service even makes our blog talk (via auto MP3 generation – click on the speaker icon at the bottom of your email), though admittedly it’s an auto voice that sounds like a bit like a Dalek (from the British TV series Dr Who). I couldn’t resist slipping this photo of a dog (and a Dalek) into our blog, it was taken by Zoomar and is licensed under Creative Commons.
