The PLOS ONE Early Career Researcher Travel Awards in the Physical Sciences
Early career researchers (ECRs) are very much at the heart of what we do at PLOS. Last year alone, PLOS ONE published more than 20,000 research papers, undoubtedly with tens of thousands of ECRs as authors. In our experience, many ECRs are aligned with PLOS’ mission and goals towards open science and improving scholarly communications. They represent the next generation of scientists and they are an important force for progress – towards improving research culture and the way in which science is performed, communicated, published and evaluated.
To support early career researchers, we are proud to announce our 2018 program of PLOS ONE Early Career Researcher Travel Awards in the Physical Sciences. Presenting research at conferences is an important and very rewarding experience. Complementing the existing PLOS Early Career Travel Award Program, we will award $500 to offset registration and/or travel expenses associated with attending a scientific conference where the researcher’s own work has been accepted for presentation. For each award, a panel of external and in-house judges will decide about the awardee.
At PLOS ONE, the award will focus on the physical sciences, as part of our efforts at PLOS ONE to reach out to these research fields. We will consider applications in the following four areas:
Conference Category | Application Deadline |
Physics and astronomy | June 1, 2018 |
Computer science and engineering | August 1, 2018 |
Chemistry and material sciences | October 1, 2018 |
Earth Sciences |
November 1, 2018 |
All eligible conferences need to take place between April 15 and December 31, 2018.
