Building an Age-Friendly society

Healthy aging is a multifaceted process that must acknowledge and accommodate the many challenges associated with the aging process, including changes in functional capacity and limitations as well as potentially chronic and/or progressive conditions. Many factors contribute to an age-friendly society, including health promotion and illness management, service accessibility and affordability, and crucially, accessible opportunities for meaningful ongoing community and social engagement for older adults. Many sectors must come together to build age-friendly environments, including health service providers and institutions, governments, civil society, and older adults themselves along with their caregivers and communities. This collection highlights recent research across the behavioral and social sciences in support of an age-friendly society.
